I should have sent half my trailing armies off to patrol other places, especially the towns and castles I’d taken so far. I only began to realize that I’d goofed when another lord pointed out my level of controversy, which was now approaching 90, and I realized that a by taking and losing and taking a town again I’d screwed up. You should only take something that you intend to hold onto (during your watch). When Ragnar made me Marshall I had ten or so armies following me, and we went absolutely nuts with sieges, and I learned about controversy the hard way: when you’re Marshall, it’s just as important to defend as it is to take, and you shouldn’t hold onto a massive entourage while leaving vulnerable areas unprotected – especially towns and castles you recently captured yourself. My villages are spread too far apart for my liking, but I was really pleased when another lord let me trade Ambeam for Emer.

I’ve made it to level 35, have a steady and growing income and own four villages plus Veluca. I’ve never seen this issue myself, sorry. One time it was fixed by unplugging and replugging the keyboard in, the other time I had to restart entirely. Wish the Floris wiki were more robust.Įdit: is also worth watching.Īlso, is it just my hardware or does anyone else sometimes (in Warband or its mods) get the bug where the game acts as if one of the movement keys is permanently held down? I’ve had it happen just now with Floris and it happened with The Last Days once as well. The Steam subform is the next place I look but honestly, I just google for that info. I just installed Floris to see what that’s like–is the best source of info on its many options the subforum on Taleworlds forums, or what? I drag the bars to various positions or even all the way to the right and click “Done”. The City menu offers a “Landlords and moneylenders” menu, which has four slider bars including one labeled, “Choose how many acres you want to buy” but no matter how much cash I have on hand, none of the sliders seem to do anything. Instead, save your denars and build the highest yielding enterprises closer to home whenever possible.Įdit # 2: I seem to have run up against a bug that may or may not be the fault of the Floris mod.

Building cheaper enterprises is fine, but once you commit to one it’s permanent and you can’t upgrade or replace it later, and I’m noticing that it’s tempting to deploy a swath of mills in familiar territory in the early game and build higher-grossing enterprises in other territories as the cash becomes available later in the game, which can prove to be disadvantageous down the line when those other factions become your faction’s enemy. So it begs the question, why join in the fun unless you just want some experience and crony creds.Įdit: Lastly, I learned that when you start thinking about building productive enterprise in cities, save up your cash and build velvet weaveries (10k denars, ~490/week payout) or tanneries (8k denars, ~250/week payout) and try to build them in territories that your faction controls. Joining an in-progress siege can only benefit you by granting experience and renown points, but very little loot and cash, and you can’t acquire a fief that way because, I think, you didn’t initiate the attack. In order to survive an attacking siege to the end, you pretty much have to hang back and let the throng on your side soak up as much damage as possible, though you can venture out and take out enemies when good opportunities arrive. The big thing I’m still trying to wrap my head around now is siege attacks. Whenever it happens, I do my best to ride away and adapt my strategy the best I can, but I’m still learning.

I’m still trying to figure out how to handle enemy reinforcements who materialize, sometimes, as if having been transported down from a starship, sometimes right next to you or worse, all around you. The rule is to always keep moving and look for soft targets.Īt this point, I think I’ve arrived at a level of comfort and confidence and competency in battles and skirmishes. The main thing is to not allow yourself to be caught alone amongst a throng of heavily armored enemy units. Even riding through clumps of units without striking out with your weapon at all can be very helpful. Every range unit you distract, is less damage for your lads.

It breaks their formations and distracts them from attacking your own units and really seems to speed things up. Strike and ride away and strike again, rinse and repeat. If you’re comfortable with mounted combat, it really pays to circle the enemy and ride around amongst them and harass them.
